City puts new logo on promotional items

The idea of rebranding is often associated with companies, but from time to time even a city changes its logo, which means a need for new logo pens and other items.

The Oklahoma city of Dewey recently announced it had changed its logo which city manager Nick Brown said would "establish an identity" for the city, according to the News Examiner-Enterprise.

Featuring a cowboy hat and the caption "Dewey, City of Vision," the new logo is part of a marketing campaign for the city as it tries to create a brand and character in the hope of attracting visitors.

"We determined that tourism was becoming more and more prominent in the area and Dewey had much to offer," Brown said.

He told the paper that although the new logo will not replace the city seal, Dewey will begin using it immediately for all promotional items.

Companies that are facing difficult times may also want to consider rebranding their logo to help jumpstart their business.

In a recent interview with the Globe and Mail, Brian Torsney president of a Canadian advertising firm said companies in trouble may want to think about a new logo that matches its brand and appeals to its audience.
