4th of July Celebration and Dewey Duck Derby

Free watermelon, activities for the kids, music, and fireworks make for a huge 4th of July celebration! Starting at 4 pm in Don Tyler Park, come and set up your picnic area for the day. Live music from "Let It Ride" will begin at 6: 30 p.m.  Great food is available from the Dewey Lions Club starting at 4 p.m. Duck race will start at 8:45 p.m., and fireworks at 9:35 p.m.

The annual Dewey Duck Derby will take place at 8:45 pm. If you missed it in previous years, you are in for a treat this year!  Hundreds of  numbered plastic ducks will race down the "Delaware River" (that runs through the middle of Don Tyler Park)  for super prizes. Grand Prize is awarded to the first duck to cross the finish line. You can purchase a duck number at City Hall, Linger Longer Antiques & Soda Fountain, Popkess Pharmacy, The Vintage Loft Junk Boutique, Tow Tall Okie Signs & Such, the Dewey Library, &  Heritage Theatre Pub & Cafe.  In addition to the Grand Prize, other prizes will be awarded to the top 5 winning duck owners.

Ducks sell 1 for 5 bucks, 5 for 20 bucks, or  buy a Quack Pack of 10 for 30 bucks (subsequent numbers of ducks past 10 are $3 each). All the plastic ducks that race are numbered, and you are reserving the number, not the actual plastic duck.  Please buy ducks and support YOUR 4th of July celebration!   The Dewey Civic Association puts on the 4th of July event, and they depend on donations to make the event happen.

Prizes for the Duck Derby this year are:  1st - Vizio 50" 1080p 120Hz Full Array LED Smart HDTV; 2nd - $50 Dewey merchant gift cards to Casey's, Dollar General, Hughes Lumber, and Popkess Pharmacy;  3rd - awesome drone with video camera; 4th - AFLAC Duck gift pack - fun for everyone!

So come early for the fun, and stay until dark for a fantastic fireworks display. Contact Cassie at City Hall 534-2272 for further information.
