Voters pass an additional .04% sales tax

On May 14th, 2019, Dewey voters were asked to support a four tenths of a cent sales tax increase (from 8.5% total tax to 8.9%).  This increase was being asked to help support the general government fund which consists of the police department, fire department, library, parks, the general government operations, and the cemetery.  The last increase for sales tax for the general fund was in 1976, which was increased from one cent to two cents.

The question passed with a vote of 129-26.  The increase does not take effect immediately.  Notification will be made to business owners about when the new rate goes into effect.
