Jake Bartles Well
800 N Delaware Ave
Dewey, OK 74029 |
The well is located on the corner of Don Tyler and Delaware. This historic well was the first in the territory, and was named for the man who started the community. Tom Mix used the well to water his horse! You should note that the replica of the original sign marking the historic well has been duplicated down to the mis-spelled word: "wattered".

Prairie National Wild Horse Refuge
East on Durham Rd, south on Bison Rd
Dewey, OK 74029 |
As you travel along Bison Road from Durham Ave, you will see a herd of wild Mustangs who have found sanctuary in Dewey. Many people mistakenly think this is a place they can bring their horses to for retirement. It is not. It is a place for relocated Mustangs from South Dakota. The Government sponsors the horses so they can live out their lives here instead of living in over-crowded lands out West. Tours are not offered. This is a drive by opportunity. You are welcome to drive by and look at the beautiful horses.
