How much is a cemetery space, and where do I purchase spaces?

The purchase of cemetery spaces for the Dewey Cemetery is handled at City Hall. We also handle the payments for opening & closing a grave space, and setting of stones and markers. The cost of a space at the Dewey Cemetery is $300 for persons living inside the City Limits. Spaces are $800 each for persons living outside the City Limits. Spaces are only deeded to living persons. Grave opening and closing is $375 for an adult; $200 for a child; $125 for cremated remains. These prices are for non-holiday, weekday services. Funerals on non-holiday Saturdays are subject to 3 times the regular charge for non-holiday weekday opening and closing fees. Services are not allowed on Sundays and holidays. The setting fee for a marker is 35 cents per square inch. Vases are set for $35 each. The usual cost to set a VA Marker is $100.80. Decorations on grave spaces are not allowed by City ordinance. Flowers are allowed to be placed on graves a week before a holiday, but must be removed the Monday following the holiday. We recommend you do not put decorations (other than flowers) on graves, as theft is possible.
